Here at Trebil Hearing Center, we're committed to helping you restore your hearing so you can enjoy life to the fullest again. It all starts with a hearing test. This is an essential part of maintaining your overall hearing health. Using the latest screening and diagnostic methods, our hearing test can accurately gauge the extent of any hearing impairment you have, as well as which audio frequencies are affected. A hearing test at Trebil Hearing Center can effectively identify the earliest signs of hearing loss, even before noticeable symptoms have begun to appear.
Even when no hearing loss is detected, a hearing test can provide a baseline against which future declines in hearing may be detected. Once the test is complete, we can determine a course of action, if any is required.
Schedule your hearing test at Trebil Hearing Center by calling (218) 692-6072.
This is the most commonly known hearing test and involves using headphones to listen to sounds in varying volumes and tones. For example, when you hear a sound in your left ear, you raise your left hand. We track and mark down your responses during the test.
It's one thing to identify tones but another to hear well enough to identify speech. That is why we also conduct a speech test where we ask you to repeat a list of words and phrases. This test will show if you are having any issues hearing speech with clarity.
Most hearing tests are conducted in a quiet room here at Trebil Hearing Center. You'll be given a pair of headphones to listen to the test's sounds and tones while we observe and note your responses.
Your hearing test results will be shown on a specialized graph called an audiogram. It is a graph with two axes: sound level (in dB) and tone. Your hearing range will be diagrammed out on this graph, with several data points, one for each tone that was tested, and plotted at the edge of your hearing range. The audiogram will show:
Usually, early hearing loss will affect one frequency more than others, so it isn't uncommon to have dips in one area of your audiogram.
The higher your data points appear on the audiogram, the closer you are to what is considered a normal hearing range. A normal hearing range is generally considered to be the ability to hear sounds that are under 25dB in volume (equivalent to rustling leaves or whispered words). We use the following categories to define hearing loss and normal hearing:
Hearing loss typically doesn't occur evenly across all frequencies. Just because your hearing is "normal" at some frequencies doesn't mean your hearing will be healthy overall. If you're concerned about hearing loss, schedule a test at Trebil Hearing Center as part of a FREE consultation.
Whether you've noticed issues with your hearing or it seems fine, a hearing test is still recommended to determine your current hearing health. If your hearing is great, a test will give you peace of mind and a benchmark for future tests. If you have some hearing loss, a test can give us a roadmap to determine the best course of action.

"Steven was extremely helpful. I had bought my hearing aids at a previous provider before I moved into the area. Steven provided more functionality than what I had before without having to replace my hearing aids. They work great now."
